Youth Sustainability Confab 2010

Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter - Saturday, April 10

If you are a college student, teenager, young farmer or aspiring farmer, environmental activist - or just a regular person under 35 who cares about sustainability issues and thinks the future is an exciting, yet slightly scary place, you need to attend the Youth Sustainability Confab!
FREE ADMISSION!

WHAT'S a CONFAB?
An informal talk, a discussion, a chat - and this confab has a goal of creating a forum to amplify the voices of young people.  Youth Sustainability Confab is a chance to air your perspectives, ideas, concerns and solutions. It’s also an opportunity to connect with other concerned young adults who may share your worldview, and who also bring their own unique ideas to the Confab. Finally, we want to identify and promote youth leadership aspirations and ability.

WHAT HAPPENS at a CONFAB?
The day begins with a lively interaction with a panel of 'Elders' in the sustainability community, and then a "World Cafe" setting will guide you through rotating, informal small group discussions. You will have the chance to discuss a wide range of sustainability issues, along with the forces that are driving change in the world today.  You will also have the opportunity to envision scenarios of what the world will look like in the future.
There will also be readings from finalists in the Youth Sustainability Writing Competition.

WAIT, WHAT WRITING COMPETITION?
Check out the brochure! High School and College age divisions (don't have to be a student), with categories in poetry, journalism, essay, short story and dramatic monologue/duet.
AND: Finalists get their way paid to the Gustavus Confab for the Awards Ceremony where the winners will be announced and prizes awarded!
