Maplebend farm is a small farm focusing on growing healthy food in a regenerative way. They are a MN Water Quality Certified farm raising KuneKune pigs, Dexter Cattle, Finnsheep, egg birds and meat birds. On August 5, come take a look at how they raise and butcher meat birds.

They will have roughly 30 birds to harvest. Get hands-on experience successfully dispatching, scalding, plucking with a drum plucker, cleaning and bagging chickens. Please be aware: we will be killing and processing chickens. There will be blood and poop.

Please dress comfortably in something that you don’t mind getting stained/dirty. Closed toe shoes. If you have a sharp knife you like to use please bring along. The process does involve dunking the birds in hot water so you may get a little wet. Also, please plan for mosquitoes!

We may have birds available for purchase if you’d like to take some home with you.

So that we may focus on the work, children are not invited to this field day.

Registration: This event is free to attend. Registration is required, no walkups.
